How does the Ionic Foot Detox work?

The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine analyzed water samples before and after participants used the foot detox. They found that after the session, the water had lower concentrations of calcium and magnesium, implying that these minerals had been taken up into the body. Calcium and magnesium are two of the four alkalizing minerals, so it is thought that this is the process by which alkalization occurs during the ionic foot bath.
